Agartha: Resumes development

Well, its seems its been ages since june of last year and a ton of things have gone by in such a short amount of time: From running out of money and then getting a job using Agartha as my portfolio, to being dicked around by various publishers while begging them for a measly 20k I needed for another year of full dev time, to finally realizing what small profit margins there are for me, the actual developer.

If you make the calculation, its actually grueling to use a publisher combined with your own country's efforts to run you into the ground, to put it in simple economic terms I was looking at

  • -17% steam or itch.io
  • -35% publisher
  • -40% income tax

Add all that and me, the person who spent 90 hour weeks working gets only 8%. In the end you're just a slave, a literal cashcow, "this is just not worth it" one would think.

This situation drove me to nearly just can the project and be a good economic slave.

But, you know? Am actually thankful for that experience.
Now, after being driven to search for a long distance job and getting paid doing 3d I have made pretty much all the money I need for about 3 years of full time dev(hurray for "subpar" living standards! Being located in a 3rd world country is not so bad if you dont count taxes)

Ok, the money problem is gone now, so how can I make it worth my while?
Taking aside itch or steam since they provide me with a client base to sell to that leaves a solid 83% in the air up for grabs.
I need PR, but 35% is just not worth it, I can pay for a moderately small PR campaign when the game is getting near finished status, so screw publishers.

Now, the actual parasite on the room, the entity that provides nothing while taking the most, the state. How do you deal with such a pest while doing nothing "illegal"?
I've done some hard research on this, in fact, the past six months that was the most I did, from opening corporations in zero tax jurisdictions to opening bank accounts and such and I've reached a fantastic conclusion:
You dont have to pay 40% tax if you structure things properly, I made a nice corporate structure that will allow me to pay at most 5% tax if at all LEGALLY.

Even better, I'll be changing countries moving to a nice low tax haven, I have no use for nationalism, not when it means 40%.

So much for the social contract, huh? As Lysander Spooner would say "I didn't sign shit!"

Right now am sitting in my nearly empty apartment while typing this, enjoying an eerie sensation of freedom, its great to know that one is free to enjoy the fruits of one's labor.
Am thankful to those who helped me in both good and bad ways.

I'll be working harder in the future, Agartha will take a completely different direction now.

This statement makes me happy and next update I'm gonna promote the shit out of this. I love the style and concept of this game I just didn't know if you were still working on it. Thank you for communicating and I can't wait to hopefully see some volume sliders and maybe a change in controls? You have an excellent concept here and I can't wait to see it flourish.

Sorry, I hadnt seen your other message, but yeah am still working on Agartha. I'll keep in mind the volume sliders too when redoing the UI!
